Enjoy what you have...

Well folks, the people of the United States have spoken. So, enjoy what you have because after January 20, 2009 you will start to lose what you have. Enjoy the freedoms now because they will slowly be taken away.

Find ways to keep your families safe.

May God Bless you, May God keep you and your families safe and May God keep America safe.

Good Luck

A vaild point by a real person... (Qualified to Lead...by Joe W. Porter)

Below is a letter from a real person, at the bottom of the letter is his number, you can call him and he'll talk to you...

Take the few moments to read the letter, because by the time you get to the end, I think you will understand the points he's making and how you should select who you are going to vote for.

Dear Friends:

My name is Joe Porter. I live in Champaign, Illinois. I'm 46 years old, a born-again Christian, a husband, a father, a small business owner, a veteran, and a homeowner. I don't consider myself to be either conservative or liberal, and I vote for the person, not Republican or Democrat. I don't believe there are "two Americas " - but that every person in this country can be whomever and whatever they want to be if they'll just work to get there - and nowhere else on earth can they find such opportunities. I believe our government should help those who are legitimately downtrodden, and should always put the interests of America first.

The purpose of this message is that I'm concerned about the future of this great nation. I'm worried that the silent majority of honest, hard-working, tax-paying people in this country have been passive for too long. Most folks I know choose not to involve themselves in politics. They go about their daily lives, paying their bills, raising their kids, and doing what they can to maintain the good life. They vote and consider doing so to be a sacred trust. They shake their heads at the political pundits and so-called "news", thinking that what they hear is always spun by whomever is reporting it. They can't understand how elected officials can regularly violate the public trust with pork barrel spending. They don't want government handouts. They want the government to protect them, not raise their taxes for more government programs.

We are in the unique position in this country of electing our leaders. It's a privilege to do so. I've never found a candidate in any election with whom I agreed on everything. I'll wager that most of us don't even agree with our families or spouses 100% of the time. So when I step into that voting booth, I always try to look at the big picture and cast my vote for the man or woman who is best qualified for the job. I've hired a lot of people in my lifetime, and essentially that's what an election is - a hiring process. Who has the credentials? Whom do I want working for me? Whom can I trust to do the job right?

I'm concerned that a growing number of voters in this country simply don't get it. They are caught up in a fervor they can't explain, and calling it "change". "Change what?” I ask. "Well, we're going to change America ", they say."In what way?” I query. "We want someone new and fresh in the White House", they exclaim.. "So, someone who's not a politician?", I say. "Uh, well, no, we just want a lot of stuff changed, so we're voting for Obama", they state."So the current system, the system of freedom and democracy that has enabled a man to grow up in this great country, get a fine education, raise incredible amounts of money and dominate the news and win his party's nomination for the White House - that system's all wrong?" "No, no, that part of the system's okay - we just need a lot of change." And so it goes. "Change we can believe in."

Quite frankly, I don't believe that vague proclamations of change hold any promise for me. In recent months, I've been asking virtually everyone I encounter how they're voting. I live in Illinois, so most folks tell me they're voting for Barack Obama. But no one can really tell me why - only that he's going to change a lot of stuff. "Change, change, change." I have yet to find one single person who can tell me distinctly and convincingly why this man is qualified to be President and Commander-in-Chief of the most powerful nation on earth - other than the fact that he claims he's going to implement a lot of change.

We've all seen the emails about Obama's genealogy, his upbringing, his Muslim background, and his church affiliations. Let's ignore this for a moment. Put it all aside. Then ask yourself, "What qualifies this man to be my president? That he's a brilliant orator and talks about change?" CHANGE WHAT?

Friends, I'll be forthright with you - I believe the American voters who are supporting Barack Obama don't have a clue what they're doing, as evidenced by the fact that not one of them - NOT ONE of them I've spoken to can spell out his qualifications. Not even the most liberal media can explain why he should be elected. Political experience? Negligible. Foreign relations? Non-existent. Achievements? Name one. Someone who wants to unite the country? If you haven't read his wife's thesis from Princeton, look it up on the web. This is who's lining up to be our next First Lady?

The only thing I can glean from Obama's constant harping about change is that we're in for a lot of new taxes. For me, the choice is clear. I've looked carefully at the two leading applicants for the job, and I've made my choice. Here's a question - "Where were you five and a half years ago? Around Christmas, 2002. You've had five or six birthdays in that time. My son has grown from a sixth grade child to a high school graduate. Five and a half years is a good chunk of time. About 2,000 days. 2,000 nights of sleep. 6, 000 meals, give or take." John McCain spent that amount of time, from 1967 to 1973, in a North Vietnamese prisoner-of-war camp.

When offered early release, he refused it. He considered this offer to be a public relations stunt by his captors, and insisted that those held longer than he should be released first. Did you get that part? He was offered his freedom, and he turned it down. A regimen of beatings and torture began.

Do you possess such strength of character? Locked in a filthy cell in a foreign country, would you turn down your own freedom in favor of your fellow man? I submit that's a quality of character that is rarely found, and for me, this singular act defines John McCain.

Unlike several presidential candidates in recent years whose military service is questionable or non-existent, you will not find anyone to denigrate the integrity and moral courage of this man. A graduate of Annapolis, during his Naval service he received the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross. His own son is now serving in the Marine Corps in Iraq. Barack Obama is fond of saying "We honor John McCain's service...BUT...", which to me is condescending and offensive - because what I hear is, "Let's forget this man's sacrifice for his country and his proven leadership abilities, and talk some more about change."

I don't agree with John McCain on everything - but I am utterly convinced that he is qualified to be our next President, and I trust him to do what's right. I know in my heart that he has the best interests of our country in mind. He doesn't simply want to be President - he wants to lead America, and there's a huge difference. Factually, there is simply no comparison between the two candidates. A man of questionable background and motives who prattles on about change can't hold a candle to a man who has devoted his life in public service to this nation, retiring from the Navy in1981 and elected to the Senate in1982.

Perhaps Obama's supporters are taking a stance between old and new. Maybe they don't care about McCain's service or his strength of character, or his unblemished qualifications to be President. Maybe "likeability" is a higher priority for them than "trust". Being a prisoner of war is not what qualifies John McCain to be President of the United States of America - but his demonstrated leadership certainly DOES.

Dear friends, it is time for us to stand. It is time for thinking Americans to say, "Enough." It is time for people of all parties to stop following the party line. It is time for anyone who wants to keep America first, who wants the right man leading their nation, to start a dialogue with all their friends and neighbors and ask who they're voting for, and why.

There's a lot of evil in this world. That should be readily apparent to all of us by now. And when faced with that evil as we are now, I want a man who knows the cost of war on his troops and on his citizens. I want a man who puts my family's interests before any foreign country.I want a President who's qualified to lead.

I want my country back, and I'm voting for John McCain.

Here's something to think about... Where does Obama get all that money?

Here's something to think about... Where does Obama get all that money?

A friend sent me this and asked that it be circulated. Mission accomplished. Pass it on! Scary stuff..

Date: Friday, September 19, 2008, 11:39 AM

To All My Friends, this is long, but very important, please take the time to read it.

This election has me very worried. So many things to consider. About a year ago I would have voted for Obama. I have changed my mind three times since then.

I watch all the news channels, jumping from one to another. I must say this drives my husband crazy. But, I feel if you view MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News, you might get some middle ground to work with. About six months ago, I started thinking 'where did the money come from for Obama'. I have four daughters who went to College, and we were middle class, and money was tight. We (including my girls) worked hard and there were lots of student loans.

I started looking into Obama's life.

Around 1979 Obama started college at Occidental in California. He is very open about his two years at Occidental, he tried all kinds of drugs and was wasting his time but, even though he had a brilliant mind, did not apply himself to his studies. 'Barry' (that was the name he used all his life) during this time had two roommates, Muha mmadHasan Chandoo and Wahid Hamid, both from Pakistan.

During the summer of 1981, after his second year in college, he made a 'round the world' trip. Stopping to see his mother in Indonesia, next Hyderabad in India, three weeks in Karachi, Pakistan where he stayed with his roommate's family, then off to Africa to visit his father's family. My question – Where did he get the money for this trip? Neither I, nor any one of my children would have had money for a trip like this when they where in college. When he came back he started school at Columbia University in New York. It is at this time he wants everyone to call him Barack - not Barry. Do you know what the tuition is at Columbia? It's not cheap! to say the least. Where did he get money for tuition? Student Loans? Maybe.

After Columbia, he went to Chicago to work as a Community Organizer for $12,000. a year. Why Chicago? Why not New York? He was already living in New York.

By 'chance' he met Antoin 'Tony' Rezko, born in Aleppo Syria, and a real estate developer in Chicago. Rezko has been convicted of fraud and bribery this year. Rezko, was named 'Entrepreneur of the Decade' by the Arab-American Business and Professional Association'. About two years later, Obama entered Harvard Law School. Do you have any idea what tuition is for Harvard Law School? Where did he get the money for Law School? More student loans?

After Law school, he went back to Chicago. Rezko offered him a job, which he turned down. But, he did take a job with Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland. Guess what? They represented 'Rezar' which Rezko's firm. Rezko was one of Obama's first major financial contributors when he ran for office in Chicago.

In 2003, Rezko threw an early fundraiser for Obama which Chicago Tribune reporter David Mendelland claims was instrumental in providing Obama with 'seed money' for his U.S. Senate race. In 2005, Obama purchased a new home in Kenwoood District of Chicago for $1.65 million (less than asking price). With ALL those Student Loans - Where did he get the money for the property? On the same day Rezko's wife, Rita, purchased the adjoining empty lot for full price.
The London Times reported that Nadhmi Auchi, an Iraqi-born Billionaire loaned Rezko $3.5 million three weeks before Obama's new home was purchased. Obama met Nadhmi Auchi many times with Rezko.

Now, we have Obama running for President. Valerie Jarrett, was Michele Obama's boss. She is now Obama's chief advisor and he does not make any major decisions without talking to her first. Where was Jarrett born? Ready for this? Shiraz, Iran! Do we see a pattern here? Or am I going crazy?

On May 10, 2008 The Times reported, Robert Malley advisor to Obama was 'sacked' after the press found out he was having regular contacts with 'Hamas', which controls Gaza and is connected with Iran. This past week, buried in the back part of the papers, Iraqi newspapers reported that during Obama's visit to Iraq, he asked their leaders to do nothing about the war until after he is elected, and he will 'Take Care of Things'.

Oh, and by the way, remember the college roommates that where born in Pakistan? They are in charge of all those 'small' Internet campaign contribution for Obama. Where is that money coming from? The poor and middle class in this country? Or could it be from the Middle East?

And the final bit of news. On September 7, 2008, The Washington Times posted a verbal slip that was made on 'This Week' with George Stephanapoulos. Obama on talking about his religion said, 'My Muslim faith'. When questioned, 'he made a mistake'. Some mistake!

All of the above information I got on line. If you would like to check it
-
Wikipedia, encyclopedia, Barack Obama; Tony Rezko; Valerie Jarrett:
Daily Times - Obama visited Pakistan in 1981; The Washington Times - September 7, 2008; The Times May 10, 2008.

Now the BIG question - If I found out all this information on my own, Why haven't all of our 'intelligent' members of the press been reporting this?

A phrase that keeps ringing in my ear - 'Beware of the enemy from within'!!!

Phony Voters, Voter Fraud and Your Tax Dollars...

With ‘community organizers’ like ACORN, the militant advocacy group that is turning up in reports about voter fraud and is linked to Obama, how can we trust this election? With more and more details coming out about ACORN voter fraud, how can we trust that new voters are who they say they are?
Those two questions are on all our minds today, if it’s not it should be. Acorn – ‘the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now’ has been around since 1970, taking and using government dollars (your taxes dollars) to lobby for bigger government. This shady outfit should be closed down based on the finds from the past few days.

In a article in the “The Wall Street Journal” dated October 14, 2008 they say that Acorn was a major contributor to the subprime meltdown by pushing lenders to make home loans on easy terms, conducting ‘strikes’ against banks so they’d lower credit standards. And they go on to say that the real genius in Acorn is getting the American taxpayer to foot the bill.

This shady outfit needs to go, however the Obama campaign is only distancing itself from Acorn, saying he never organized with it and has nothing to do with illegal voter registration. Yet it’s devious to channel cash into an operation with a history of fraud and then claim you’re shocked to discover reports of fraud.

I believe the Wall Street Journal hit it on nail on the head with this statement:

“As with Rev. Jeremiah Wright and William Ayers, Mr. Obama was happy to associate with Acorn when it suited his purposes. But now that he's on the brink of the Presidency, he wants to disavow his ties.” Well Mr. Obama, you can't have it both ways, you can have fake voters come and vote for you and then say, I'm shocked.

It’s time for the Justice department to start treating this fraud reports as a federal issue, than a few local violators.

ALERT for Small Businesses

For those out there that do not know this, Small Businesses create the majority of all jobs in America, including 350,000 new jobs this year alone.

So, keep these few items in mind when you go to the polls this November to vote for the President of the United States and other elected positions:

1) John McCain will keep individual tax rates low. Millions of American small businesses, including LLCs and S-Corps, are taxed at individual tax rates. John McCain will fight to make sure that their taxes remain low. When businesses pay lower taxes, they are better able to hire more workers and pay higher wages.

2) Senator Obama will raise taxes on 23 million business owners -- a plan that will stifle job growth and weaken job security. Means Less Jobs.

3) John McCain will cut the corporate tax rate from 35% to 25%. America now has the second highest corporate tax rate in the world, making America a less attractive place to do business and causing American companies to move their jobs overseas.

4) Senator Obama has no plans to cut the corporate tax rate, and his proposal to lift the payroll tax income cap will be the largest tax Increase in history -- $1 trillion. By the year 2015, more than 865,000 jobs will be lost under this scheme. Means Less Jobs

5) John McCain will give small business owners health care tax credits. John McCain will reform the tax code to offer more choices by providing a refundable tax credit ($2,500 for individuals and $5,000 for families) to offset the cost of insurance.

6) Senator Obama will tax small business owners who cannot provide health coverage for all their employees. Obama has also publicly supported a Single Payer Health Care System which will prevent American families from making decisions about their own health care.

7) John McCain Supports An Alternative New And Simpler Tax System. Americans do not resent paying their rightful share of taxes - what they do resent is being subjected to thousands of pages of needless and often irrational rules and demands from the IRS.

So, what I'm trying to tell you is this, if you want to keep your job, if you want your employer to be able to pay their bills and keep you employed you need to Vote John McCain.

The Washington Democrats keep saying that the Bush Administration is to blame for all the issues that are at hand today. Well, I'm telling you the Washington Democrats are not telling you the full TRUTH.

The Washington Democrats run the House and the Senate up in Washington D.C., so they are the ones that write the laws not the Bush Administration.

So, before you go vote, know the FACTS and the FACTS are the Washington Democrats are at the root of 90% of the issues we are facing today.

The email on 3 Criminals...

The story sounds good, however not true... Well part of it is not true.

On Snopes.com http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/fanniemae.asp the review of this email is false.

However, having talked to Raines about 'General housing and economy issues' does not add a warm and fuzzy, because why would you ask advise from a guy that was charged and found guilt on bad economy participles. Unless you wanted bad advise. Hmmm, something to think about.

Also, if you are going to ask someone to help with vetting your Vice President pick, how could someone not know about Johnson's record.

Something just don't add up.

Someone needs to look deeper into this, because again something just does not add up!

Oh the Liberal Media...

Well, there are two stories out there today that has not received much air, well because it's news that shows the Democrats in a bad light.

The first story of the day…

The VP Debate Moderator (Gwen Ifill) is releasing a book on how great Obama is. Now, how in the world can she not be one sided. This shows you how one sided the Public Broadcasting Service is, the PBS is a publicly funded service and should not pick sides, however just like the rest of the media is liberal.

Ms. Ifill should do the right thing and step down as Moderator of the Vice Presidential debate, however we all know that will not happen, so both campaigns need to request that she is removed as moderator. This is the only way to get a far and balance debate.

Now the second story of the day…

Last year, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi supported a bill that would ban members of congress from putting spouses on their campaign and PAC staffs. However, today in the Washington Times there is a story informing us that her husband Mr. Paul Pelosi has been receiving funds from Nancy Pelosi PAC (PAC to the Future). With the sum being around $100,000, now here where it gets better, Mr. Pelosi took over as treasurer of his wife’s PAC in 2007 and the price of treasurer increased eight times higher than other treasurers received annually from 2000 to 2005.

I was really surprised to the Washington Times printed something like this, I was truly amazed. However, you will never see this in the light of day on the big networks because it will hurt the view of the democrats.

I’m not saying the Republicans are saints, we all know that there are issues on both sides. But, the media makes it their job to point out when a republican does something like this, but not when a democrat does it.

So, my question is, How can we trust the media? As we are learning more and more each day, the media is one sided and we know now that it’s the left side when it should be in the middle with no sides.

The Obama campaign pressures TV Stations to Drop NRA Spot....

There is a story on the CNSNEWS.com website that informs us that the Obama campaign is now threatening broadcasters with government sanction over the content of an ad.

First thing frist, Sentor Obama is not the President, nor is he the Chairman of the FCC, so how in the world is he threatening broadcasters with sanctions.

Please take a look at this story at http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=36590.

And please keep in mind, if this is how he allows his staff to act now, what freedoms will he try to remove from us as President of the United States.

One more word before I go, if he is informing the stations they must remove the spots that the Obama campaign believes are making numerous false statements and misinforming the public, then the stations need to pull ALL the Obama ads also.

Good Luck & Good Night

Catholics Vote...

A friend of mine forwarded an email to me with the message of:

I hope all of you will go to this site and see what the Catholics have done to encourage their 67 Million people on election day. They don't tell them how to vote but they sure do get their message across. http://www.catholicvote.com/

When you visit the site above, watch the video ( have supplied the video at the bottom of this message), this video is so very inspiring. I'm not sure how we can do this, but we need to find a way to get the word out about this video, the Bishops and priests need to speak about this website in all Churches, not just the catholic ones. This video speaks to all Christians in general...

LIFE, FAITH and FAMILY the three most important things in our lives.

So the time is NOW to forward this message on, to witness to others. In the words of St. Francis of Assisi, "Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words. NOW is the time to use words, NOW is the time to forward this message.

Good Night & Good Luck

Oh there's Change coming...

Oh there's change coming, well not really I'm just using that as a campaign slogan. Here's how change is NOT coming from the democrat party.

Rep. Alcee Hastings a democrat from Florida that also happens to be black made this following statement to the Natioanl Jewish Democratic Council last week, "Anybody toting guns and stripping moose don't care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks. So, you just think this through."

Now, where is the change in that, hmmm NO WHERE!

I'm in total agreement with Matt Brooks, he's the Executive Director of the Republican Jewish Coalition, when he made the statement, "Rep. Hastings has stooped to the worst kind of divisive politics. There should be no place in our country for this sort of political discourse. We can constructively disagree on the issues without denigrating others."

And let me say one last thing on this, I'm Catholic a proud Catholic and this offends me just as much as it should offend people of the Jewish faith and black americans.

Good Night & Good Luck.

Today in Washington...

Let's review...

In a vote that shocked the hell out of everyone in DC and Wall Street that turned down the $700+ billion emergency rescue for the financial system left both parties scrambling when the the bill went down, 228-205. However, it did not take long for the House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to start pointing fingers.

It all started on the House floor when she did a speech that pointed at all the republicans that they where the cause of all this and needed to step up and fix it.

Now wait one damn minute Pelosi, the last time I checked the democrats are in control of the House and the Senate and if you all really believed there where issues, why in the hell didnt you step up to the plate and put a bill together that would put in safe grauds.

Also, let's take a look at something here, if this was such a great democrat bill, why did 95 democrats vote NO on the bill. Pelosi, before you start pointing fingers you better get your team on the same page, because based on the facts that's not happening.

I do agree with one thing Pelosi said and I quota: "What happened today cannot stand". You are correct Pelosi, this cannot stand. Now stop pointing fingers and start working together.

About a Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Commercial

The article below is written by a friend of mine's cousin, I had to repost it here because it shows you how far off the commericals are and how people really need to check the facts before the believe something that "is on TV"

This article can be located on the Republican party of Olmsted County. http://www.olmstedgop.org/ocgop/?p=misc/news/salerno&s=misc/newsAndReading

About the Franken Commercial With the Andersons

I forget sometimes why I don't watch much television anymore. Then the campaign ads hit the airways and I remember oh so well. I'm particularly appalled at the ad in which the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has chosen to run. The grieving parents of a soldier who died in Iraq are blaming President Bush and Norm Coleman for their loss. What? Let's take a look at the facts (an option they forgot while writing propaganda for us all to view).

First of all, Norm Coleman wasn't even sworn in as a senator when the joint resolution to authorize the use of United States Armed Forces against Iraq was calculated. Senator Wellstone was the incumbent seeking re-election on October 11, 2002 when Congress voted. Senator Coleman didn't take his oath until January 7, 2003. Does that still make him a "yes-man"?
Next, President Bush doesn't have the authority to send the country to war! Congress has to take a vote for that to happen. To be exact, the vote was 77 to 23 FOR war with Iraq. If we go back even further than October 2002 though, we see that there were plenty of Democrats who thought Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, a term described by the military and coined by the Clinton administration as weapons capable of a higher order of destruction such as high explosives or nuclear, biological, chemical and radiological weapons excluding the means of transporting or propelling it.

On February 18, 1998 at a town hall meeting in Columbus, Ohio, Madeleine Albright, then Secretary of State under the Clinton administration, warned of Iraq's threat of nuclear proportions. She is quoted saying "Iraq is a long way from Ohio but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risk that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face and it is a threat for which we must and will stand firm." That was before George W. Bush took his oath of office.
Sandy Berger, National Security Advisor under the Clinton Administration, said at that same meeting "He (Saddam Hussein) will rebuild his arsenal of weapons of mass destruction and some day, some way, I am certain, he will use that arsenal again as he has 10 times since 1983." That was also before George W. Bush took his oath.

In 2002, Nancy Pelosi was quoted as saying "Saddam Hussein certainly has chemical and biological weapons. There's no question about that."

Jay Rockefeller, Senator (D-WV), said in October 2002 on Senate floor "there is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons."
The list goes on and on. Joe Biden (D-DE), Harry Reid (D-NV), Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton (D-NY), Jay Rockefeller (D-WV), John Edwards (D-NC), Evan Bayh (D-IN), Tom Daschle (D-SD), Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Tom Harkin (D-IA) and a host of other Senators (Democrat and Republican alike) agreed with the President on taking action against Iraq's leader and voted for the war. So does that mean all of them are "yes-men" as well?
Nancy Anderson states in the ad, "If Norm Coleman would have stood up to the President and said this is not a good idea, maybe he would have listened." Why didn't the Democrats vote against it?

"I don't blame the army for our son's death. I just blame the bad policies on President Bush, Norm Coleman, who voted for this" said Nancy Anderson in the commercial. How could Norm Coleman vote for the war when he wasn't even in office at the time? As I recall, there were plenty of Democrat Senators who voted for it though.
Claremont Anderson says, "I have no faith in Norm Coleman. He has no ability to make up his own mind." As a matter of fact, on January 22, 2007, Coleman joined Democrats in bipartisan opposition to President Bush's planned troop increase in Iraq. Is this commercial an attempt at political satire or the rewriting of history?

If you think war in Iraq was a mistake then start putting the blame where it belongs. Don't deny that Al Franken's party had just as much to do with our troops going to Iraq as anyone. They should take Stuart Smalley's advice "Denial ain't just a river in Egypt!"

Getting Personal...

On Thursday during a CNN interview House Speaker Pelosi called President Bush 'a total failure'. Now, can we say the kettle is calling the pot black?

We are heading into the final 26 days of the legislative session and the Democratic-led congress has not passed a single government spending bill. Now these bills are what allow the government to do its daily business. You know, like pay its employees, purchase office supplies, and pay the light bills, those types of things.

President Bush was only making the point or I should say only telling the fact, that this is the longest a Congress has gone in 20 years or so without passing a single spending bill, so it's very clear that the speaker of the house is feeling some frustration at their inability to do so.

Now, during the interview on CNN Pelosi came back with an unusually personal attack on President Bush.

The Democratic-led congress keeps informing people that President Bush approval rating is 29 percent, well they don't tell the American people that their approval rating is only 18 percent, one of the lowest rating the congress has ever had.

Also, I truly enjoy how the Speaker of the House keeps saying that the American people are losing credibility on President Bush. Well Madam Speaker I hate to tell you something, his approval rating has stayed the same at 29 or so percent as where the congress approval rating keeps going DOWN!

Plus, the American people are smarter than the Democratic-led congress thinks they are, the know that the President of the United States of American can only try and get his items to work, the Congress is who has the last word on it, and this congress has not acted in the correct way for the American people.

In just over four months away, President Bush successor Senator John McCain takes his seat on Jan. 20, 2009. And the Republicans take back the House and Senate as for the American people, as House Speaker Pelosi put it, has lost all credibility in the current Congress.

Offshore Drilling...

Yesterday Sen. John McCain, (Next President of the United States of America) called for the end of the federal ban on offshore oil drilling. However, there are people out there that are yelling, NO you can't do that.

Well, here are the facts folks, just 200 miles from shore, is the continental shelf outside the Gulf of Mexico, and China is currently has the contract to drill for oil there with Cuba. Sen. Larry Craig, Republican of Idaho told the times " Red China should not be left to drill for oil within spitting distance of our shores without competition from U.S. industries."

Adding insult to injury, US firms where invited to bid on the Cuban contracts, however the US Government barred them because of the embargo of communist Cuba. But we do trades with China all day long, now wait, am I wrong, or is China a communist country also?

Now, let's just take a step back here for a second, China is going to start drilling off of Cuba and they do not have the safety controls that we have for our drilling platforms, so because its a China platform and they have a spill, the oil will not come our way, well because it's China not the US.

This is what the environmentalists groups out there believe that keep stopping us from drilling off our shores.

As I wrote in a my blog earlier, Oil is used for a lot more than just energy, and I do believe that energy prices are out-of-control. However, until we can find a better way we need to find more oil.

Gas companies are part of the issue, as for they are getting larger and larger profits as the we have to pay higher and higher cost at the pumps and at the house for our light bills. I fully understand that these companies are in to make a profit, but come on, 84 Billion in profit, I sure 10 Billion profit would have been cool also, but that would have helped the average person out and we can't have that.

I do not know if ending the ban of offshore drilling is the correct answer and I'm sure it's going to annoy the hell out of two republican governor's (Crist - Florida & Schwarzenegger - California), never the less, Sen. McCain is putting ideas out there, not just staying with the same old same old, like Sen. Obama is trying to do.

Just one dog's point of view.

Paper vs. Plastic...

Just a short time ago, China launched a crackdown on plastic bags used in the retail world. So that go me thinking. What does it really take to create those handled plastic bags you get from Wal-Mart or other stores.

Well, did you know that China estimates that the country of 1.3 billion people must refine 5 million tons, or 37 million barrels, of crude oil every year to meet the demands for those plastic bags.

If that estimate is correct, that means China uses as many bags in 4 weeks (one month) than the U.S. uses in a year.

Also, just so you know... Plastic accounts for 4% of the worlds total oil production. WOW!

So, lets see... Paper vs. Plastic...

Paper (Thrown away):

Paper, can be thrown away, or can either be recycled. If you thrown them away and they end up in the landfill, over time it will break down, it will take many years to do this, however it will break down.

Plastic (Thrown away):

Plastic bags can be thrown away or can either be recycled. If you thrown them away and they end up in the landfill it will stay intact for thousands of years, as for plastic does not compost like paper.

Just a few side notes, with plastic in the mix, garbage does not have a chance to break down over time, as for landfills are considered airtight, which explains shy after 20 years you can find a hot dog that is still fully intact and a newspaper with articles clearly legible.

Paper (recycled):

If you use paper bags for your groceries, did you know that one paper bag holds the same volume as 4 plastic bags, wow... That's a great savings right there. Also, you can reuse them as trash can liners and for craft projects. They are also make a great weed barriers and eventually break down and naturally compost.

And if you choose to send your paper bags off to be recycled, here's the low down on that:

First the paper must be returned to pulp and this is done by using different chemicals. These chemicals bleach and spread out the pulp fibers, then those fibers are then run through cleaning and screening sequences that remove any contaminants. The pulp must then be washed to remove ink particles that were removed from the paper by the chemical process.

After the pulp is cleaned, it leaves what is called sludge, this sludge is composed of water, inks, pigments, and small particles of waste. The materials are separated and cleaned, these cleaned materials can be used in bricks, fertilizers and other useful products.

Plastic (recycled):

Plastic is fabulous in that it is recyclable, all that needs to be done is basically re-melt and re-form it. The re-melting process also sterilizes the plastic thus allowing any recycled plastic to be made into hospital grade products. Plastic can be recycled many times before it becomes to brittle to recycle. Please note, NOT ALL plastic bags can be recycled and many stores that collect them, simply send them to the landfill for lack of another alternative.

So, the next time you go to the store, and you are asked Paper or Plastic, based on all the information above, feel confident that you are making a informed decision the next time you hear that question.

Gas is not the only user of oil, so lets start looking at other things also that could help reduce our oil usage.

In just ONE Year... (Three Parts)

Part 1

Remember the election in 2006?

A little over one year ago:

1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.

Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:

1) Consumer confidence plummets;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.

America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!

Remember its Congress that makes law not The President. He has to work with what's handed to him.

Part 2

Taxes...

Whether Democrat or a Republican you will find these statistics enlightening and amazing.
www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.html

Both democratic candidates will return to the higher tax rates

It is amazing how many people that fall into the categories above think Bush is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever.

If Obama or Hillary are elected, they both say they will repeal the Bush Tax cuts and a good portion of the people that fall into the Categories above can't wait for it to happen. This is like the movie The Sting with Paul Newman; you scam somebody out of some money and they don't even know what happened.

Part 3

You think the war in Iraq is costing us too much? Read this:

Boy am I confused, I have been hammered with the propaganda that it is the Iraq war and the war on terror that is bankrupting the US. I now find that to be RIDICULOUS. I hope the following 14 reasons are forwarded over and over again until they are read so many times that the reader gets sick of reading them. A Red Light people means STOP!

Ok, I understand being in a hurry, if you are on your way to have a baby, besides that, why people are in a hurry to put your life or someone else in play by running a red light is besides me.

On the way to work this morning two, I repeat two different people ran red lights just to get up to the next one and stop. The one I recall the most was a white Toyota that flies right by me as I’m STOPPED at the light, he never slows down until wait for it wait for it, the next light is already red and there’s cars already stopped there, or I’m sure he would have ran that one also.

There’s a big push for cameras that take pictures of motorists that run red lights, I’m not 100% on this, because how does one know who is driving the car, so who’s license is affected by this, well there’s the issue with this, the vehicle owner would be subject to the fine, not the driver. So, if you allow a friend or relative to drive your vehicle and they run a red light and a picture is taken, guess what, you will get a $60 fine in the mail.

Currently in the Florida Senate, Senator Carey Baker (Chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee) is supporting the use of cameras to fine motorists that run red lights. However, Senate bill 816 that passed out of committee a few weeks ago cuts the fines in half that cities and counties will collect; it takes the penalty from $125 fine to a $60 violation for the first three citations. The fourth violation written to a vehicle owner would get a fine of $125.

Now, I’m guessing and I’m saying I’m only guessing here, that the reason for cutting the fine is that the cameras will get more motorists in that act of running the red lights so in turn the cities and counties collect more. Well that’s just not right, I personally do not believe that a $60 fine will keep people from running these red lights. Senator Mike Bennett is the original sponsor of the bill and has said that he would try to reinstate the higher fines during the bills travel in three other Senate committees.

Now the big picture section of all this… Does the law allow for a ticket to be issued without having a direct drive to assign it to? Well, a 2005 attorney general’s opinion (at the time the AG for Florida was now Gov. Charlie Crist) said cities and counties can issue only warnings, not actual tickets, when using cameras at intersections. A question that I have is how does the cost get covered for the camera’s being installed at the intersections?

If the fine is going from $125 to $60, that would allow the cities and counties only to keep $30 of each violation and at a cost of around $300,000 per intersection, each intersection would need around 10,000 violations and I do not see that happening. Also, we have to get it thought the courts and we all know that our courts in Florida already backed up.

This write up was all because of two people that ran red lights this morning and there was no reason for it, just so they could be the first to the next red light.

Battlestar Galactica (Season Four to Premiere April 4, 2008)

Ok, with all this talk about Jericho coming to an end or as Scott McPherson put it, “Fat lady sings as Jericho bows for good”, we need not to forget that the fourth season and last season of Battlestar Galactica (BSG) will be starting April 4, 2008 on SciFi.

For a show to start out as a three-hour miniseries (December 8-9, 2003) on the SciFi Channel gained a wide range of critical acclaim. Based on that the SciFi Channel had no choose but to take it to the next level, which they did, and four seasons later, and two specials, it’s all coming to an end. Executive Producers David Eick and Ronald D. Moore took the story line from the original BSG from the late 70's - early 80’s.

The odd thing about original Battlestar Galactica and Jericho is they were both cancelled by the networks that aired them, and as with Jericho there was a massive write-in campaign and such things were uncommon in those days, and it prompted ABC to re-think their reasons for canceling the show, just as CBS had to with Jericho.

Now the different was the Original Battlestar Galactica looked at having a spinoff (Galactica 1980), which was five years after the ‘The Hand of God,’ which was the final episode of the original series. However, because the two original producers were unable or unavailable to be part of the spin-off, ABC did a quick re-think and it was decided the new series would take place thirty years after the end of the original series rather than five. Need to say Galactic 1980 had a short life; it only lasted for only ten episodes.

Now we jump up to 2003, 23 years later… That’s where BSG the Miniseries started. So, what’s all this mean and what am I trying to say… Well Jericho fans take a page out of history, just because the show is being cancelled, does not mean it’s the end. With BSG having its last season it does not mean the fans will be left hanging.

A press release from the SciFi Channel released March 18, 2008 informs fans that the spinoff show Caprica is a GO.

New York, NY – March 18, 2008 -- As the Peabody and Emmy-winning original series Battlestar Galactica heads into its fourth and final season, SciFi Channel has greenlit production on Caprica, a two-hour Battlestar backdoor pilot prequel from executive producers Ronald D. Moore and David Eick.

Production on Caprica is slated to begin in Vancouver this spring. “We couldn’t be more excited to see this long-anticipated project get off the ground. It’s an amazing script, and, though clearly inspired by the Battlestar mythology, it is not just a pale spin-off. This is a smart, thought-provoking, emotional, and compelling character drama in its own right,” said Mark Stern, Executive Vice President of Original Programming.

So Jericho fans, do not give up hope, maybe, just maybe SciFi or a different network will pick it up and keep it alive.

John McCain for President of the United States...

Well folks, now that we know who are guy is for the November election, I would like to say a few things about John McCain:

Winning the War on Terror
John McCain has been unrelenting in his support for the new strategy in Iraq. He said early signs of progress are cause for very cautious optimism but do not guarantee success. He believes we have a long way to go, but for the first time in four years, we have in place a winning strategy that deals with the reality on the ground in Iraq.

John McCain has said that success in Iraq critical in our titanic struggle against Islamic extremists. On the other hand, he believes that if we were to leave Iraq, there will be chaos, there will be genocide, and the extremists will follow us home.

John McCain is willing to confront this unpopular issue at the risk of losing this election. He believes that presidents don't lose wars, political parties don't lose wars – nations lose wars and nations suffer the consequences.

Taxes
John McCain will make the income and investment tax cuts permanent.
The economic freedom provided by low marginal tax rates supports innovation and entrepreneurship – the recipe for faster growth, greater investment, and more jobs. Low taxes on dividends and capital gains promote saving, innovation, investment and growth.

The only way to keep taxes low is to control spending. The greatest tax cut we can give is to our children – by fixing our spending problem. The federal government has a spending problem, not a revenue problem. Taxes have grown over 10 percent per year in the past 2 years, and have now risen above their historic share of national income.

Foreign Policy
John McCain has proposed a worldwide League of Democracies to help organize countries – with which we share basic values – to face the opportunities and challenges of the modern world.

John McCain believes the League of Democracies can complement the UN but could also take action in cases where the UN has been unable to act effectively or, in some cases, act at all. It did not act effectively in Bosnia or Rwanda and did not act at all in Kosovo or Darfur.

As long as Russia and China perceive their interests to be very different from ours in these and other cases, John McCain believes we should increase cooperation with fellow democracies to shape solutions for global problems. The League must also take into account countries not represented on the U.N. Security Council, like Japan, Germany, India, and Brazil, that can play a constructive role in tackling global challenges.

John McCain wants to begin a debate over how to work more closely with democracies to meet common challenges resulting from the rise of new centers of power, new threats like terrorism and proliferation, and new opportunities arising from globalization.

Immigration
Coming from a border state, John McCain has seen firsthand the negative effects Of illegal immigration.

John McCain believes that among the federal government's most important obligations is to secure our borders and enforce sensible immigration laws that will keep our nation strong and safe. A comprehensive immigration control plan that works is long overdue.

John McCain has consistently opposed giving amnesty or public benefits to illegal immigrants. In order for illegal immigrants to become legal, they must come out of the shadows and - pay stiff fines and back taxes; undergo criminal and security checks; pass English and civics tests; remain employed for six years; and go to the back of the line.

John McCain believes strong immigration reform must vastly improve our border surveillance and enforcement capabilities; increase the manpower, infrastructure and capabilities necessary to block, apprehend, detain and return those who try to enter the country illegally; strengthen the laws and penalties against those who hire illegal aliens and violate immigration law; achieve and maintain the integrity of official documents to stop fraud, verify immigration status and employment, and enforce immigration law; and develop a sensible guest worker program that will serve our nation's best economic and security interests.

Mitt Romney... ( I have seen the error of my ways)

“I believe the strength of America lies in the strength of her people. I am running for President because I want to help keep America strong. That means a strong military, strong economy, and strong families. We are facing many challenges, but America has always overcome these challenges in the past, and I am confident that we can do so again.” Mitt Romney

I personal could not have said it better, I can say with some reddnes in my face that I liked Mitt from the start, however liked Fred a little more, so I switched over to Fred. More and more I seen the error of my ways. So, I have again put my support behind Mitt Romney.

Please take a look at http://www.mittromney.com/ and if you choose to support him, which I hope you do, please use Fundraiser ID 113371.

Good write up on Blue-ray and HD-DVD...

This blog post is from Scott McPherson

The war's over, you can buy Blu-Ray now....
Posted on Thursday, January 10, 2008 at 11:44AM by Scott McPherson

Just a quick note on the eventual demise of the HD-DVD format. As you probably know, the high definition DVD market is plagued with two competing and non-compatible formats: Toshiba's HD-DVD, and Sony's Blu-Ray. HD-DVD is unbelievable, and Blu-Ray is equally awe-inspiring. The technology basically allows a thinner, more precise laser beam to put many times more information onto a DVD disc. Thus, you can get much richer video (more information stored on disc) and, in an increasing number of films, uncompressed audio. I own a Blu-Ray player and HDTV courtesy of my wife (well, we gave each other the stuff for Christmas), and this has directly affected my ability to churn out quality blogs in real time! In other words, I find myself sitting on my behind more often, watching things like "3:10 to Yuma" or "2001: A Space Odyssey" in Blu-Ray with my mouth and eyes wide open, amazed that I finally have motion picture quality exceeding that of a movie theatre in my own home.

But I digress. Sony, hurt badly several times by losses incurred (both moral and financial) due to bad strategery with formats in the past (recall the VHS vs. beta battle in the 1980s and other, more recent A/V muckups), wised up this time and got in step with their usual competitor, Philips. Thus was Blu-Ray DVD born, and the format is truly spectacular. Sony also lined up five major motion picture studios to back the product.

In contrast, Toshiba lined up Paramount and Universal to support HD-DVD. Universal was HD-DVD-specific.Paramount had been making hi-def DVDs in both formats, but last year decided to move to HD-DVD exclusively.

Bad decision.

Warner Brothers, whose films account for about 20% of all titles, had also been licensing in both formats. But, due in no small part to what they see as an inevitable recession with resulting timidity in the buying public, along with a recognition of superior marketing by Blu-Ray, announced several days ago that WB would be Blu-Ray-specific by mid-2008. This announcement was quickly followed by two business partners, New Line Cinema and HBO Films.

Universal's exclusive HD-DVD contract with Toshiba expired on New Years Day. It is anticipated that Universal will also jump on board the Blu-Ray bandwagon sometime this year and start releasing films in the format.

So here's what you can look for:

A long, slow roll to oblivion for HD-DVD. Dropping prices, coupled with frantic efforts to lure smaller boutique studios to their format. Probably won't happen, since those smaller studios desperately need cash, and Blu-Ray is the ticket. Also look for better and better bundles from HD-DVD and Toshiba.

Meanwhile, Sony is in the process of licensing Blu-Ray technology to more and more manufacturers (something they did NOT do in the VHS-Beta war). This will allow more players, which will cut prices, which will increase demand for movies in Blu-Ray.

The Blu-Ray Disc (BD) marketing people are also now smelling blood, and moving in for the kill with great sales and specials on titles. For example, Amazon has been running a buy one, get one free BD special on selected titles, and offering huge price cuts on BD discs as well. Best Buy has been selling AFI classics like Goodfellas and Deliverance for $14.99 on BD, and has been running its own Buy One, get One Free Blu-Ray specials online.

This, in turn, will put even more pressure on Toshiba to reduce prices. But the tide has officially turned, and unless Toshiba can come up with a huge innovation, or make HD-DVD movies as cheap to buy as standard DVD, the format is doomed.

But do not wait until then to get on the bandwagon for Blu-Ray. The format is so impressive, you are truly doing your eyes and ears a disservice by NOT moving to high-def now, today, absolutely this minute! I use two Websites to evaluate the auality of individual Blu-ray discs: http://www.blu-ray.com/ and http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/ . If a disc gets reviews for quality of video and audio with both of these sites' reviewers, I get the disc. That is not to say I would go out and splurge $30 on a Blu-Ray of Superbad, for example. But if I thought "McLovin" would be any funnier in HD, I might be tempted.

So get out there and move to Blu-Ray with confidence that your butt will be completely numb for months to come. Eye and ear candy of the highest magnitude.

A Friend goes Down Under...

Well, Monday, January 7th of 2008 a friend of mine started a trip of a life time. Mary Lee Cunill became a member of NET Ministries and headed for Australia.
